Abstract

Tablets and applications (apps) can positively impact student learning and student motivation, if teachers selected and implemented these technologies wisely. Teachers need to evaluate how well an app suits their student’s cognitive and physical abilities, and the intended educational activity and content. This is a time consuming, but necessary task to avoid that the implementation of an app fails to produce to the anticipated learning outcome or student behavior. This article attempts to combine all evaluation factors that teachers need to have in mind to evaluate the suitability of an app, summarized into an evaluation toolkit materialized as a checklist.
